The Aurora Cloud Sensor is made in the UK and provides a low cost system for monitoring the sky for cloud cover and more importantly for CLEAR skies.

The Aurora Cloud Sensor can also trigger events on computer. These events can operate the relay in the Aurora Cloud Sensor or execute external programs on your PC.

The system comprises of sensors for cloud, rain, light and sensor temperature. The rain sensor incorporates a heater to prevent false alerts due to frost or dew.

How does the Aurora Cloud Sensor work?
This system works by comparing the sky temperature with the air temperature. Under clear skies the system senses the upper atmosphere temperature (which is very cold). However if the sky is cloudy the sky temperature is only slightly colder than the air temperature.
The system also has sensors for rain and light.
